  • Breather Boss: Tenkai, due to his simple attacks.
  • Contested Sequel: Dawn Of Dreams tones down the overall difficulty with much more Action RPG elements. And additionally, this game didn't have Capcom's usual tendencies to use the trope Ink-Suit Actor (Tenkai at best only had Samanosuke's face, but otherwise he's a lot more unrecognizable), so the game loses out those who likes playing as someone similar to a live-action actor, or gains fans who didn't mind the lack of such and more attracted to the eased up difficulty.

  • Disc-One Nuke: If you can get to 50th floor of Dark Realm as soon or shortly after it becomes available, you can get weapons (especially Excalibur) that make middle portion of game much easier.
  • Game-Breaker:
    • Dawn of Dreams introduces the ability to do chain attacks off level 1 magic attacks, rendering many other ways of starting a chain effectively pointless. This addition also makes level 2 and 3 magic far less useful by comparison (except for level 2 and 3 light magic, which is one of few ways to deal with flying enemies).
      • However, Issen attacks dealt with a level 1 magic are less effective and grant you less red souls than a properly used Issen attack. Nonetheless, you'll still likely earn more than enough to upgrade your weapons and stats however.
    • The real game breaker is Jubei's Bullet Time power. Her ability makes even the hardest boss fights a complete cakewalk.

  • That One Boss: The God of Light is regarded as the single hardest fight in the series.
