• Arc Fatigue: One criticism of the special is that it is very, very heavy on dialogue and causes it to run longer than it should've. Making it a bit of a chore to finally get to the climax.
• Pacing Problems: The first part of the special is fine enough but once it hits Nebulanda, the story hits a very slow drag in which the party that went on the island is captured one by one, all the while we check on those that stayed behind as well as what the Marines are plotting. Many reviews cited it as one of the worst of the specials for this this reason, with some fans even stating they fell asleep during it because the plot was moving too slow.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: A Davy Back Fight rematch with Foxy's Pirates actually would been a cool plot for the special or at the very least half of it before moving to Nebulanda. But it ends up getting cut short due to the Marines springing their trap right as the contest is kicking off.
