  • Deliberate Values Dissonance: Drake makes it abundantly clear that Norse morality was much harsher than that of most modern cultures. Perhaps the most pointed example is in Vengeance, where Sparrow the Smith is imprisoned by King Hermann and forced to build elite battlesuits for his army. In the process of arranging his escape, Sparrow kills the king's young sons by crushing their necks, goads his jailer into raping the princess, makes the king and queen go mad, and triggers a civil war.
