• Base-Breaking Character: Minato. Some fans think he's a fine main character whose Adaptation Personality Change is justified given the circumstances, and a makes a good job "fixing" the flaws and plot holes of the manga. Others, whoever, think he's too overpowered with rage issues that's a disservice to his canon self.
• Crack Pairing: Sai/Yakumo and Hidan/Tayuya.
• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • In this fanfic, when Minato first met Kushina, he mistook her for a boy. Sometime later, when the manga revealed their first meeting, it was Kushina who thought that Minato was too girly looking.
  • This fic called the truth about Yashamaru and Gaara's mother Karura years before it was confirmed in canon. The difference is that in this story Yashamaru was controlled; in canon, while Yashamaru willingly followed orders, it was under protest. He truly did love Gaara and the person he actually hated was his brother-in-law. As for Karura, she died blessing baby!Gaara, swearing to always protect him, and it is her love that drives Gaara's automatic sand defense.
• Unexpected Character:
  • Shino as a time traveler; many stories feature Shikamaru and at least one of the Sand Siblings given how useful they would be to Naruto but Shino is rarely considered for said purpose.
    • In a "Unexpected that They Aren't a Time Traveler" variant, Naruto isn't one, which has been noted as unusual Naruto Peggy Sue fanfics.
  • You'd think the author writes the story with this trope in mind, given how he uses many characters most fans forget they existed, such as Kaiza, or lately Kakko and Nono.
