  • Complete Monster: Szorlok the Necromancer killed many people to find the Darkspore, which grants ultimate power over the death, even sacrificing his loyal acolytes to power it. Defeated, Szorlok went into exile, but later kills many to recover the separated fragments of the Darkspore. Upon taking center stage, Szorlok drains the life of his former friend and mentor Gojun Pye, raising armies of the undead to slaughter all in their path while Szorlok destroys the Gods to take their place, intending to make everyone worship him or die. When the heroine Marek resists him, Szorlok attempts to drain the life of every mortal on the planet to fuel himself, laughing how he will rule over a "world of death".
  • Idiot Ball: When Thane and Dagen go to the afterlife to get the Hammer of Tek, neither one of them wears the Iron Crown. They know that only the person wearing the Iron Crown can wield the Hammer of Tek, so there is no logical reason for them to not wear it when going to the afterlife.
  • Narm Charm: The series is a total Cliché Storm, but really, that's part of its charm.
  • Retroactive Recognition:
    • Fans of low-budget Narm Charm type fantasy media might recognize Jake Stormoen (Dagen) and Adam Johnson (Thane) from their leading and supporting roles in the quite successful TV series The Outpost, which started airing a couple of years after the last Mythica movie was filmed.
    • There are quite a few viewers who are seeking out these movies specifically for Matthew Mercer's involvement, thanks to his very high recognition in the Dungeons & Dragons player community as the DM of the highly popular actual-play webseries Critical Role, which started live-streaming in the same year as the release of The Darkspore, but took a couple of years to really gain a large audience. And the fact that Critical Role has now started producing more mainstream animated series based on their adventures in that webseries (still with the same group of voice-actors, with Mercer voicing several important antagonists) might give these indie movies yet another lease on life.
