• Growing the Beard: While Reptilicus was seen as a good pilot, this episode became an instant classic.
• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • The "Homo Erectus Galifianakis" quip became doubly funny after Laika announced Zach Galifianakis was set to voice the Bigfoot-esque "Mr. Link" in Missing Link.
  • The riff about the set of Legends of the Hidden Temple being abandoned gets funnier knowing that they brought the show back for one season in 2021... on a completely different set.
• Magnum Opus Dissonance: Joel and Jonah have said they were very surprised that this episode ended up the fan favorite of Season 11; they figured it would be Carnival Magic.
• Memetic Mutation:
  • "Bang!" quickly became one of the first memes of the new season.
  • As did replying "If you insist: WILDERNESS!" to the movie's title.
• Special Effect Failure: The original Bobo mask was auctioned off after the show ended, and the one used here is a clearly stiffer one-piece mask, whereas the original had a separate (and much more mobile) jaw appliance. The skin also takes on an eerie yellow hue under the harsh direct lights used for cameos, giving poor Bobo a bit of an Unintentional Uncanny Valley vibe.^note It looks considerably better in the Moon 13 scenes for the season finale, though.
