- Adorkable:
- Subaru is this to a fault. His lack of social graces combined with his utter love of books and growing love for Haru make him downright adorable, especially after his Character Development. His Bishōnen looks certainly do help in this regard.
- Nana has her moments, especially whenever she's around Subaru. Case in point, the pet shop incident.
- Jerkass Woobie: Subaru may be an abrasive jerk at times, but he had a rough childhood that inspired his misanthropy, and the story begins with him losing his parents. Luckily through Haru and his friends, he starts to grow out of the "jerkass" part.
- Moe: Haru is this to a fault. Despite her Tsundere nature (or probably because of it), you can't help but deny that she's absolutely adorable at that.
- The Woobie: Haru had a rough life on the streets after being abandoned, spent the majority of her time trying to feed her siblings and protecting them from predators. By the time she meets Subaru, she had lost all of her siblings and thought them all dead. Things get better once Subaru takes her in and they both begin to move past their traumas.
