  • Alternate Aesop Interpretation: Just because your parents live in separate worlds doesn't mean they can't get along and/or a family that is separated doesn't make it any less a family.
  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Are Sky Beak and Ocean Flow Happily Married but simply living apart? Or are they Amicable Exes? Or did they have two kids while never marrying?
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Part of the reason Scootaloo loves Seaquestria? Being able to swim in 3 dimensions like that is the closest she's ever personally come to flying. Given it's later confirmed she might never be able to fly, is as close as she might ever be able to come to flying.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Twilight mentions winning a ring-toss game. One can only imagine her human counterpart’s jealousy.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Fans got excited at the mention of an episode that focuses on Mt Aris and Seaquestria.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: While justifiable since it would’ve been too expensive to get Uzo Aduba back, there were many who were disappointed that Queen Novo doesn’t make even a cameo in the episode. Also doubles as They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot too, as many wished that there was at least a moment where Twilight and Novo make amends after Twilight tried stealing the pearl of transformation. (Indeed, none of the hippogriffs are seen treating Twilight with anything but admiration, despite her actions in The Movie; presumably the defeat of the Storm King and the testimonies of Skystar and Silverstream vindicated her in their eyes.) One other reason is that we don’t get to see how Novo’s relationship with Ocean Flow is since they are both sisters.
  • Wangst: Terramar for some viewers. While the idea of separation by your choice is a very real and serious decision to pile on a child, the downplaying of the situation in this context (being able to visit either places within walking distance whenever you like, both parents still seeing each other despite living in separate places and the freedom of choice to change back on a whim) resulted in the lack of any permanent negative consequences, making him look like a whiner instead.
  • Wheelchair Woobie: Scootaloo's perception that swimming underwater feels like flying is a major factor in her bias towards Seaquestria over Mt. Aris. Clearly, she's still yearning for the real thing — so strongly that it interferes with her Cutie Mark Crusader duties.
