- Angst? What Angst?:
- Except for Heshikiri Hasebe, no one in team Hanakage seemed to care that much about Ichigo Hitofuri, who is their "friend" and comrade, being banished back to tsukumogami form after being replaced by Kage, with the group abandoning him for several months and even talking about leaving him like that for good since Honami, the sword appraiser, chose the Kage sword over his blade.
- The group's reunion prior to the climactic battle is treated as a happy "Welcome back, Ichigo" moment, with everyone, including Ichigo, ignoring the fact that they had essentially abandoned him to a fate worse than death for months and were considering leaving him like that forever. Ichigo also recovers from the trauma of being left in such an empty state in a matter of seconds after retaking on his original form.
- Broken Base: After Hanakage's run, fans criticized the play for receiving "rough" treatment compared to previous musicals, such as the announcement that the musical would receive a musical video based on edited footage of the performance instead of one that's newly shot. This news caused some mixed reactions among the fanbase. Some find it logical, since Hanakage had production issues and the team is already juggling other performances, making it possible that the actors and team may just not have enough time to adjust their schedules for the new video. Other fans argue back that they had more than a year to plan and budget, concluding that the production simply dislikes Hanakage because it didn't meet their financial or reception expectations, causing them to abandon it for that reason. Whatever the real reason is, it has led to some fandom in-fighting because of hate fans of Hanakage had sent at Michi no Oku and the demand that it receive similarly "poor" treatment.
- Fridge Logic: Had Hasebe not convinced Ichigo to regain his true form in the play's ending, and the just group returned to the citadel without him once their mission was complete, what exactly did they plan to say to the Saniwa about Ichigo's disappearance? It seems as if no one factored in that the Saniwa would be bothered by the absence of one of his Touken Danshi.
- Narm: One of the lyrics in "Ignition" is Yamanbagiri Chougi saying "cool, swag, genius" in English. Both cringe and out of character.
- Older Than They Think: An in-series example. One of the criticisms leveled at the production team for allegedly mistreating Hanakage is that "Enbu," the Taiko time song performed by team Hanakage, was later featured in Michi no Oku, Hitotsu wa Chisu as part of their Taiko time segment. This song reuse has led to fans complaining because it is a "Hanakage song" and accusing the team of further Hanakage erasure, when in reality, Taiko time songs being reused in subsequent performances is a tradition as old as the original four musicals, as "Otokomichi" was first performed by team Atsukashiyama Ibun, then by Bakamatsu Tenrouden, followed by "Kanki no Hana" first performed by team Mihotose, then by team Tsuwamono Domo.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: While the play Hanakage is okay on its own, the entire plot, which was about Ichigo Hitofuri nearly being erased from existence because a shadow forgery of him was believed to be real over him, could have easily been the plot of a musical starring the Koutetsu brothers and the two Yamanbagiri's, whose stories are largely about reals vs fakes. What's worse is that Yamanbagiri Chougi is actually in this play, but his storyline about being a real sword and having to deal with a copy stealing his shine receives little attention, despite the fact that it would seem more relevant given what his teammate is going through.
- What the Hell, Costuming Department?: Heshikiri Hasebe, like Mikazuki Munechika before him, suffers from the "Light colored contacts vs bright stage lights" issue, which makes his eyes to look creepy and glowing when exposed to the stage light.
