YMMV / Murder by Numbers (2020)

Go To

  • Awesome Music: Having Masakazu Sugimori of Ghost Trick and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney fame (the latter of which Murder by Numbers takes heavy inspiration from) composing the game's soundtrack certainly helps.
    • "Honor's Theme (Vocal Version)", which serves as the opening theme for the game, is a perfect mix of cheesy and heartwarming, emulating various opening themes for '90s Saturday morning cartoons. The accompanying in-game animation is also really well made.
    • The themes that play while you're solving puzzles are really fun to listen to:
    • "Magellan's - A Port in the Storm" is an upbeat and fabulous theme for the eponymous drag bar.
  • LGBT Fanbase: Not only is one of the main characters openly gay (and is portrayed emphatically instead of as a walking punchline), there is quite a bit of research shown on the topic of drag queens during Chapter 3. Not much wonder the Gayming Awards named it a nominee for Best LGBTQ Indie.
  • Narm: The scenes where SCOUT is in his lethal weapon mode are supposed to be scary because in that mode SCOUT can seriously hurt someone, and has in fact murdered someone before. But the fact that he looks as adorable as ever, just with different colors on his screen and weapons sticking out of his body, can make those scenes rather silly instead.
