YMMV / Mumford & Sons

Go To

  • Awesome Music: Quite a lot of their songs are this.
    • Sigh No More: "The Cave", "Little Lion Man", "Awake My Soul", "Winter Winds"
    • Babel: "I Will Wait", "Lover of the Light", "Hopeless Wanderer"
    • Wilder Mind: "Thompkin Square Park", "Believe", "Snake Eyes", "Ditmas", "The Wolf"
    • Delta: "Woman", "Guiding Light", "Beloved", "Delta"
  • Broken Base: Wilder Mind was an incredibly divisive album among both critics and fans. Some hate the album for abandoning the more folksy nature of their previous albums (as well as their iconic banjo) whilst others like the more alternative nature and welcome a change of sound.
  • First Installment Wins: Most fans (and some critics) generally agree that Sigh No More was their best album.
  • Funny Moment: The "Hopeless Wanderer" video, due to the actors standing in for the band members, and their hammy over-acting making it a total Mood Whiplash considering the completely sincere tone of the song (and Mumford & Sons' music in general).
  • Ho Yay: The "band members" in the video for "Hopeless Wanderer" are clearly very itching to make out with each other. And two of them do at one point.
  • It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: Whilst their earlier albums were critical darlings, one major criticism of them was that a lot of their songs were rather samey ("I Will Wait" and "Babel" both sound quite similar) and lacked variation. However, when they tried to change that...
  • Older Than They Think: No, the band wasn't the first to mix rock with British Isles folk. Bands like Fairport Convention were doing that in The '60s.
  • Signature Songs: "I Will Wait" and especially "Little Lion Man" and "The Cave".
