YMMV / More & More & More Tales to Give You Goosebumps

Go To

  • Ensemble Dark Horse: A Holly Jolly Holiday is the most popular story, and one primary reason is Susie Snowflake, a parody of sugary sweet Christmas special characters. Eventually she got popular enough to be included in Goosebumps Horrortown, while she was previously only mentioned in a prior Christmas event.
  • Narm Charm: The ending of Marshmallow Surprise, where the main character and her brothers suddenly turn out to be werewolves and eat Mrs. Spooner, comes out of absolutely nowhere. And yet because of how ridiculous and random the twist is, it makes the story hilarious almost as if it's a deliberate parody of Stine's usual twist endings.
  • Paranoia Fuel:
    • Can you really say how long that you have been sitting at a show? Perhaps your boredom is a sign of Properly Paranoid.
    • Your kids could get kidnapped if you let them stay out until dusk in brightly colored clothing that makes them stand out.
    • "Don't Sit On The Gronk" may have you eyeballing your Christmas presents given by mysterious Secret Santas. Can you really trust your presents?
    • Be Careful What You Wish For; maybe your angsting about moving into a new home is actually you dreaming about a calm place, while your actual life Is filled with chaos.
  • Surprisingly Improved Sequel: While most of the Tales to Give You Goosebumps entries had a mixed to middling reception, this has been lauded for the stories being more creative, funny and better thought out. Troy Steele in particular considers it one of his favorite books he covered.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: "Attack of the Christmas Present" abruptly ends with Robot Tag living up to its name when it tells Jack that he's now "It." While it's a clear pun that's foreshadowed by Robot Tag's name, there was space to imply that Jack's brother might've had his own problems with the creepy looking mask Jack originally received from their uncle.
