• Covered Up: "The Four Yorkshiremen" was originally a sketch on At Last the 1948 Show (of which Graham Chapman and John Cleese were castmembers), but is commonly associated with Monty Python.
• Crosses the Line Twice: Graham Chapman was a master of this. While the Pythons were filming a comedy special in Germany, their hosts tried to take them on a tour of the Dachau concentration camp, but couldn't because the tourist area closed early. Graham reportedly shouted "Tell them we're Jews!", and it worked.
• Discredited Meme: Their jokes have been quoted so often it's become a joke to repeat the jokes. They even provide the page image.
• Genius Bonus: they're all university graduates and intellectuals, even Terry Gilliam.
  • In the Flying Sheep sketch, presented in cod-French as a joint project between France and Great Britain, the driving genius behind les moutons volants is named as Brian Trubshaw. This is on one level a funny Python-ish name, but it's not one they made up; another joint project between Britain and France, big at the time, was the supersonic airliner Concorde. The test pilot who first took the Concorde prototype past the sound barrier was called... Brian Trubshaw. And of course Concorde was a character in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
  • On the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail, a lot of the background detail was furnished from Terry Jones' academic experience as a postgraduate in Mediaeval History. And Terry went on to produce a six-episode documentary series on mediaeval England, played almost-seriously, as a project in his own right as an academic historian.
• Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The troupe picked up an American audience through the films and PBS airings of Flying Circus. The troupe's continuing stateside cult popularity has been a major influence on alternative comedy.
• Production Posse: Even after the group officially disbanded after Chapman's death, it was fairly common for various members of the troupe to work on other member's projects. This has caused many fans to assume that any project that includes two or more Pythons in it is a Monty Python project, even though most of them officially aren't.
