YMMV / Michael Strogoff

  • Funny Moments: Alcide Jolivet and Harry Blount find themselves unintentionally abandoned when their cart breaks in half, the driver continuing on the front half of the cart. Once they make it to the next relay station, and see their driver, the first thing he does is ask for his fare. He barely avoids the very British Blount socking him in the face.
  • Homegrown Hero: Although the book is set in the Russian Empire, and the titular character is a Russian courier who must travel across a war torn region to deliver an important message, one of the main characters is French journalist Alcide Jolivet, who shares nationality with the author.
  • Values Dissonance: The narrator links Ogareff's treason to the fact he's half-Asian.
