  • Anvilicious: The film's plot threads make its message that the internet and social media dehumanize people painfully obvious to the viewer.
  • He Really Can Act: One of the few positives critics took from this film was the dramatic performance from Adam Sandler, who is traditionally known for playing comedic roles.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Patricia already proves that she's a paranoid Moral Guardian who is obsessed with her daughter's digital interactions. However, she irreversibly crosses the line when she uses Brandy's phone to impersonate her and tell Tim that she's bored of him and that she will block his number if he texts her again, leaving an already emotionally fragile Tim so thoroughly distraught that he tries to take his own life.
  • Took the Bad Film Seriously: Pretty much everyone involved in this film. While reviews have been mostly negative, they nonetheless tend to agree that the cast gave it their all with the jumbled material they were given.
