• Designated Hero: Katie of Pants on Fire cheats on her boyfriend of years with a guy who she admittedly only likes because of his looks. Her justification for this seems to be that she fell out of love with her boyfriend almost immediately after getting on with him, now thinks he's too "nice", but that they work too well together for her to break up the relationship, and also that she simply can't resist kissing hot guys. And when Tommy Sullivan arrives in town, she's all in for hooking up with him as well. While she's not a completely terrible person, none of these actions have any reasonable explanation besides her just being selfish and fickle. In this matter she even comes out as a Karma Houdini, since while she does confess that she was the one who wrote "TOMMY SULLIVAN IS A F..." and gets a proper punishment for it, she just gets a free pass for cheating on her boyfriend because he breaks up with her before knowing about it. And of course, as the synopsis suggests she spends the entire book lying to nearly everyone she knows.
