YMMV / Medal of Honor: Vanguard

Go To

  • Demonic Spiders: Enemies with Karabiner 98Ks on elite, as they can kill the player in two shots.
  • So Okay, It's Average: The general consensus of both reviewers and players. While most of them praise it for the music, sound design, and story, the main complaints arise from dated and comparatively lackluster graphics and gameplay in comparison to its next-gen counterpart, Medal of Honor: Airborne.
  • That One Level: Both of the Operation Varisity Levels are much harder and much longer than the rest of the game and feature very few and far between checkpoints.
    • 'Endgame' starts with the hardest parachute jump in the game, requiring the player to land in a fortified tower for the wings medal. After the jump if the player did not land in the tower they then have to fight their way up to it and breach the door. After that the player must fight there way across a mine field that has far more enemies than any previous section in the game. Then there is a very long Hold the Line section, where the player is pinned down in a farmhouse by MG42 fire, if the player attempts to walk out of the farmhouse they will be killed almost instantly, this section also has no checkpoints between the start of it and the end. After that the player must fight through trenches which have a very large number of enemies in them and three bunkers before the end of the level, thankfully this section is easier than the first half of the level though. Also the level has very few and far between checkpoints and far more enemies than previous levels.
    • 'The Crucible' is even worse, as not only is it even longer than 'Endgame' but the player is required to fight through most of the level on their own. The first section has an MG42 directly above the player and a Tiger Tank to the player's left, with no weapons available to destroy it and on top of a very tall, distant tower is a sniper who can be a serious threat to unaware players on Elite. The player is required to fight their way up to the top of the tower in order to get a Bazooka so they can destroy the tiger. After that the player must fight through a very heavily fortified area with two MG42s guarding it and a large amount of Fallschirmjagers. The the player must fight their way down to the bottom and through trenches under the Factory, which features an MG42 for the player to use at the end, however using it is a death sentence on Elite as enemies will quickly overwhelm the player. Then after the player reaches the allied squad and is likely relieved that their will have allies helping them, the game lures the player into a false sense of security, with the next section being a craw through several trenches, alone while very hard to see snipers fire at the player, this section is extremely long and is considered the hardest part of the game. At the end of the sniper section there are a large number of Fallschirmjagers in the next area, and the player is required to fight their way back up to the top of the factory and the last section is guarded by an MG42 around a corner at point blank, which can kill the player in less than a second on Elite, also this section has no checkpoints so if you die here you will have to play from through the sniper section and this section again. The last section is a very long Hold the Line section where a very large number of infantry and tanks assault the now allied controlled factory, thankfully however this section has checkpoints and is much easier than the previous section.
