• Anti-Climax Boss: After two whole seasons of setting him up to be the Big Bad for most of the series, the climactic fight against Isaac amounts to EZ chasing him up some stairs, beating him to a pulp in a one-sided fight and throwing him down the aforementioned stairs, watching him drag his fractured body, and then shooting him in the head while he pleads for his life with absolutely no fanfare.
• Moral Event Horizon: In season 4, EZ's ex-girlfriend Gaby, who admits to still love him, planning on testifying against his brother Angel drives EZ to cross the horizon. Deciding between whether to sacrifice his dear brother or Gaby, he opts to shoot down Gaby. With either sacrifice anyhow, EZ would discard the last of his humanity by disposing of someone who had gone to great lengths to love him back. His sacrifice serves to signal that there is no turning back for EZ, cementing him as a ruthless Mayans leader.
