Designated Hero: Mankind, particularly during the First Contact War, comes across as one. While the Council is made to look like a group of entitled fools, the humans don't do a whole lot better- their attempt to get Council forces to leave Shanxi via words was crude and insulting, and on the ground they openly commit war crimes (such as booby-trapping bodies, execution of unarmed prisoners, and soldiers openly contemplating raping Asari prisoners). It's also implied that several Turians were further detained without trial and experimented on, which is confirmed when we see what Jack Harper's group is up to. The general in charge of the human forces also says that they don't take prisoners, having all enemy combatants shot if they don't lay their weapons down immediately.
