- Shocking Swerve: The ending (and the whole fourth Season) can come across as this to some. While it's kind of foreshadowed that the story will be of the Shoot the Shaggy Dog variety, the death of all the main characters seems contrary to the entire point of the series. The friends sticking together and learning from their mistakes is all for nought as they...just die. And apparently they go to Hell too, despite the fact there are far more selfish and evil characters in the story and the protagonists were largely forced into their predicament.
- What Do You Mean, It's Not Symbolic?: The Catholic Church and Santería imagery in Series 2. The guys hide money in a statue of the Virgin Mary, and the old woman protects the guys by painting them in a wide circle of goats blood. As Quinn steps out of the circle, things take a turn for the worse.
