  • Alternative Character Interpretation:
    • Teddy McGiggle. Was he going to betray Dave from the beginning or did he come up with the idea of leaving him behind when he got into the car? Also was his regret at having sex with the children’s mothers sincere or he was just trying to get Dave to pity him?
  • Base-Breaking Character: Viewers have varying opinions on Dave. Some find him to be likable protagonist with believable Character Development, while others are annoyed by his Manchild tendencies and find him extremely unpleasant.
  • Broken Base:
    • Is it a good, lighthearted comedy with a great idea for the story and funny jokes? Or is it a dumb and predictable movie full of cliches trying too hard to be wholesome? The opinions on this film have been highly divisive. The fact that it is another zombie movie, a genre that is quite overused, adds fuel to the fire.
  • Cliché Storm: The main complaints of the people who didn’t like the movie. This includes the archetypes of the main characters being quite overused and the story seeming to be very predictable.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: All the kids are actually well-received and get praised even in the negative reviews.
  • It's Not Supposed to Win Oscars: Common defense point for the people who admired the film and found it an enjoyable and wholesome comedy.
  • Squick: Has some surprisingly nasty shots, like the scene where Teddy McGiggle bites the zombie boy’s face or his death scene.
  • Take That, Scrappy!: The death of Teddy was a relief for many given how unlikable the character is.
