YMMV / Last Case: The Disappearance of Amanda Kane

Go To

  • Broken Base:
    • The game itself, especially the ending. Some people saw the ending as completely ruining the game's plot and Film Noir theme. Others still enjoyed the game despite its ending for its atmosphere, the beautiful, in-depth setting, the style and graphics, and its plot. And then there are some who didn't like the game from the start, and found the ending to be an Ass Pull that was the final nail in the coffin.
    • The voice acting. Some players found the narrator's voice very dull, with some criticizing that the voice actress sounded like she wasn't even trying. Others found the monotonous voice acting very soothing and perfect for this kind of game's setting.
  • Cliché Storm: In spades. Not that this is a negative.
  • Critical Dissonance: The game's received great feedback and praise from nearly everyone who reviewed it over on Game Jolt and Greenlight Arcade. But many players (especially on YouTube) seem split between whether or not this is a great game with a confusing ending, or a boring game with a confusing ending.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: While a majority of the players did give the game positive reviews, many players were equally disappointed that the overall plot of finding Amanda Kane, and everything that Jack Forester does in the game, become pointless in the end when he's abducted by aliens.
