YMMV / LPS: Popular

  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Was Brooke really lying about Sage getting easily bored of his girlfriends easily? On the one hand, Brooke is known for being a Manipulative Bitch who twists the truth to make someone else look bad, and when she was talking with Savannah, she was trying to put the latter down. But given that Sage wanted to tell Savannah he had feelings for her right after he went to her house for a project once, one has to wonder if Orange County Day's most notable liar is actually telling the truth.
  • Audience-Alienating Premise: At least outside of the LPS community, as it is a series about high school cliques represented by plastic animal toys.
  • Base-Breaking Character: Brooke. Fans seem to be divided on whether she's a horrible bitch who needs tons of Laser-Guided Karma or a woobie who should get a chance at becoming friends with Savvy again.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment:
    • In episode twenty-two, it looks like a missile shooting when Brooke realizes Savannah has her lost pet. She then literally roars before stomping over to Savannah. It doesn’t help that Savannah later does a stock scream sound effect.
    • In episode twenty-three, Tom is having a conversation with Violette where he mentions that Sage could model for Abercorgi and Fetch. Then, a black and white photo of Sage on a real life beach comes with suave music playing in the background. It isn’t even implied that Tom was imagining that; it’s never brought up.
    • In episode twenty-six, the first (and only) character that’s not voiced by SophieGTV says a single Big "WHAT?!" before cutting away.
  • Creator Worship: SophieGTV became the LPS community's biggest icon for creating this series.
  • Contested Sequel: While season two is definitely well-liked, there's a debate surrounding whether or not it's better than season one. Some like the improved editing and acting of season two. Others feel like season two jumped the shark and prefer the more down to earth story of season one.
  • Die for Our Ship: Poor Tom is subjected to this by an incredible amount of Sage/Savvy shippers.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Megan, who only made a proper appearance in two episodes, is a very memorable character, due to her backstory with Brooke and Tom.
  • Fan-Preferred Couple: Sage/Savvy had quite the amount of support since the first episode.
  • Fanon:
    • Angelina Davis is a lesbian, aromantic, and/or asexual.
    • Brooklyn and Angelina wear colored contacts because their eye colors have changed. The fact that preteen Brooklyn wore glasses but doesn’t now also supports this theory.
    • Brooklyn as a preteen wore braces.
    • Fanon released to Anthropomorphic Personification:
      • Savannah, Lina, Genny, Alicia, and Sage are commonly believed to have brown skin. Out of the five, Savannah is the most consistent. This is most likely because of the Fantastic Racism she experiences and her fur color is naturally exclusively brown.
      • Brooke, due to having blond hair and blue eyes and being a perpetrator of Fantastic Racism, is pretty much unanimously agreed to be white.
      • Even when Alicia isn’t Ambiguously Brown, she’s generally the tannest of her friend group.
      • Despite the majority of Alicia’s fur being blond, she’s almost always a brunette because of the brown fur on the top of her head.
      • Rachel and Genevieve’s hair is wavy because the ears on their LPS are.
      • Savannah’s hair post makeover was frizzy.
      • Tom and Megan have bleached their hair white. However, Tom usually has some brown hair left.
  • Foe Yay Shipping: Brooke and Savannah is one of the most popular pairings in the fandom. However, others considered it a potentially toxic ship.
  • Growing the Beard: The first few episodes were filmed on an old camera, and the desks and lockers were made out of toilet paper rolls. As the series progresses, the filming gets better and the editing becomes much more smoother and advanced, even making the pets' head, eyes and mouth move on its own.
  • Memetic Mutation: Many parodied the hashtags and shirts advertising Team Brooke and Team Savannah by commenting “Team Locker” on YouTube, pitying the lockers for how they always get hit (once by Sage out of anger, and the second when Savannah threw Brooke) and have to see petty drama each and every day.
  • Unintentional Uncanny Valley: While the facial animations seen in the mid-season intro and certain scenes were considered revolutionary for a series like this, it unfortunately didn't age well. Many fans nowadays have found them to be quite unnerving after being used to seeing the LPS's faces being static the whole time, as well as the mouths lacking teeth/tongues and the unnaturally smooth movements of the blinking and talking animations.
  • Unnecessary Makeover: The vast majority of fans prefer Lina and Genny's original LPS designs to their post-makeover ones.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: Although this series uses Littlest Pet Shop toys, it has been rated PG-13 for its mature themes such as the subject of violence, eating disorders, and the like. Even then, the mature content included is considerably tamer than newer LPS series with the same classification, especially since only euphemisms of swearing is included.
  • The Woobie:
    • Savannah, who has had to cut off one of the people she cares about and give away her adopted cricket because her former best friend is threatening her with financial and social ruin if she doesn't comply. After going through humiliation and finally finding peace in the first season, Brooke is back again trying to destroy her and her happiness.
    • Brigette, a Nice Girl that just wanted to make new friends, is caught in the tension of someone else's relationship and even gets falsely blamed by one of her closest friends for sabotaging his relationship.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Brooke. While she may be an Alpha Bitch, she's also insecure to the point of bulimia, her mother is neglectful, and her only friend at home is her pet cricket, Gigi. Which, as of season 2, has left her and gone on to be adopted by Savvy.
