  • Alternate Character Interpretation: A big part of the show's humor is reinterpreting characters based on looks or context cues, for example:
    • Xaldin is hot for Beast, and his efforts center around seducing him (in BBS) and getting a three way with Belle (KH 2).
    • Mickey Mouse sees himself as Riku's foster father. Mostly because Mickey is pretty blasé in canon when Sora risks his life, but whenever Riku runs off or is in danger he gets panicky and wants to run after him.
    • Queen Minnie is a low key despotic ruler. In BBS, after committing a few crimes, she exiles Pete to be imprisoned in an empty void, and Jake and Shanon joke that King Mickey signed off on that Executive Order.
  • Fandom-Enraging Misconception: Calling Shannon a "fake fan" for making minor mistakes during her recaps. As she and Jake have stated multiple times, she works two day jobs, has to review Let's Play footage and take notes on every single aspect of the game, and dole it all out as fast as possible. As such it's understandable that errors may occur, and using such mistakes as "proof" is a quick way to turn the hosts and most listeners against someone.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Early in the series Jake theorized that Riku had become the Keyblade. By the time of Dream Drop Distance, he was informed that he was almost right because in that game Riku essentially became a weapon (a Dream Eater) to protect Sora.
    • In episode 2, when talking about the papou fruit, Jake asks if there's any real magic to it and upon Shanon admitting that nobody's shared any, Jake quips that Kingdom Hearts III should step up its game. Sure enough, Sora and Kairi share one in that game.
    • In the one year anniversary video, Shanon said that if there were any Disney owned property that could be in Kingdom Hearts, she would want it to be Suite Life. While not in III directly, Yozora is voiced by Dylan Sprouse, who played one of the main characters in said show.
  • Memetic Mutation: "You wouldn't download the moon!"
  • Underused Game Mechanic: Jake and Shannon agree that coded could have been a cool game if it went deeper into the gimmick of gameplay being different in every world, but was hampered by all those worlds being retreads of the first game, having to visit those worlds three times over the course of the game, and being originally made for a phone.
  • What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: The Kingdom Hearts franchise's place in this trope is lampshaded by Jake with increasing frequency as a game series where you visit Disney worlds and go on adventures with Disney characters becomes increasingly dark and involves multiple existential crises. By the end of the episodes focused on Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, where events spiral into a Downer Ending, Jake declares that these are games marketed for children and shouldn't be so sad.
