YMMV / Kerbal Space Program 2

Go To

  • Awesome Music: Each celestial body has its own leitmotif, with the music changing intensity depending on what the player's doing — landing, returning to orbit, or simply taking in the scenery. It's a vast improvement over the first game's Public Domain Soundtrack.
    • The Mun's leitmotif is haunting and intense, perfectly capturing the celestial body's "magnificent desolation" and reflecting the dangers faced by Apollo astronauts during the Space Race.
  • Obvious Beta: The early-access release was riddled with bugs and performance issues, as well as with many of the advertised features not yet implemented yet, leaving many players underwhelmed and even angered. Improvements and bug fixes are being patched in as quickly as the developers can, but already many players and reviewers are comparing it to the No Man's Sky debacle of 2016. The developers seem to be making a genuine effort — the first major update, which added a science mode similar to the first game, also added a brand new story-based campaign, and fixed many game-breaking bugs. However, only time will tell if KSP2 can similarly Win Back the Crowd once the game is fully complete.
  • Fake Difficulty: The game has a major difficulty spike once your journey goes interplanetary — not because it's particularly challenging to build a rocket capable of going that far, but because the maneuvers required to put yourself on the correct trajectory are incredibly precise. The node controls are clunky to work with and the camera seems to fight you at every opportunity. You'll likely need to reference an online guide and use a protractor on your computer screen to determine what time of year to launch your rocket. Even once you've managed to luck your way into a planetary encounter, there's still the matter of actually executing the planned burn. Manually. By eyeballing it. Did we mention these maneuvers are really precise?
