At one point, Sarah sarcastically asks if Brendan is really human. A book released in the Lethbridge-Stewart series would reveal that Brendan was actually an alien, he just didn't know it.

What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: This pilot seems utterly confused about who it's aimed at, on a scene-by-scene basis. It was nominally aimed at the younger segment of Doctor Who's fans, aired in an early evening timeslot and features plenty of "cute" scenes for K-9. Yet at the same time it features a satanic cult performing human sacrifice as its antagonist, and Sarah spends most of the runtime casually sitting and talking to the villagers.
