• Heartwarming in Hindsight: Superman telling his son he's everything he's ever wanted before bidding him farewell is harsh, but it also becomes heartwarming knowing that in Superman (Rebirth), he's happily married with a son he absolutely loves. Jon even looks similar to Van-El.
• Tear Jerker: One of the biggest tear-jerkers in the entire series.
  • Superman and his son saying their final farewells as Krypton explodes around them.
  • Batman having to watch his father and mother be murdered in front of his eyes once again.
  • The way George Newbern voices Superman's rage and grief while he utterly pummels Mongul. He's pissed beyond belief, but you can just tell he's barely holding it together.
    Superman: DO YOU KNOW WHAT I'VE LOST!? WHAT I'VE—!?
  • And to top it off, he finds himself staring wistfully at a statue of his mother and father holding the planet Krypton above their heads before he can finish.
