YMMV / Jurassic World: The Game

Go To

  • Awesome Art / Visual Effectsof Awesome: Everything in the game is very well drawn and overall has much better graphics than its predecessor. Both the environments and animals are very pretty to look at. In fact, the graphics are so nice one can even forget this is a mobile app and confuse it for an actual video game or even a movie.
  • Awesome Music:
    • The battle theme really sets in the tone and excites you for some primal carnage.
    • In a contrast to the above, the ambient music: It's beautifully calm and peaceful.
    • The themes of the two additional parks- the Aquatic and the Cenozoic.
  • Base-Breaking Character: The animal roster. Many of the new species are either Ensemble Darkhorses or Replacement Scrappies for more popular ones which appeared in Jurassic Park Builder. It doesn't help that alot of them are redundant (Tanycolagreus, Pyroraptor, Tyrannotitan, Irritator, Bonitasaura, Supersaurus, Unaysaurus, Eolambia, Coloborhynchus and Proterogyrinus to name a few).
  • Good Bad Bugs: Selecting the “speed up” option at the top of every event battle can lead to some pretty funny bugs during the opening of each Aquatic battle.
    • The plesiosaurs will end up facing the wrong way, while the pliosaurs will quickly swim around the entire area. Megalodon and the other sharks will charge at the opponent, mouth agape, before freezing on the other side of the arena. The rest just end up briefly freezing in place, or disappear entirely.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: The wrecked remains of the food harbour from Jurassic Park Builder became this in 2020 when that game was taken permanently offline, presumably due to Ludia being unwilling to pay for the servers any more due to a lack of players.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Downplayed, but when Antarctopelta was first introduced into the game in November of 2015, it was derided a little for using the ankylosaur rig and animation, complete with the club tail, even though at the time it was believed to have been a Nodosauridnote . A 2021 study found it to have been much more closely related to the then newly discovered Stegouros, and the pair formed a new family of basal ankylosaurians called Parankylosauria, who are notable for having tail clubs shaped like Mesoamerican clubs with obsidian blades embedded in them. note . In effect, Antarctopelta did have a tail club, just not the same kind as Ankylosaurus.
  • Moment of Awesome:
    • Obviously achieving anything in this game: evolving an animal, completing a quest, winning a battle, etc.
    • Unlocking special unique creatures by achieving victory and reaching 1st place in the Tournament mode.
  • Nightmare Fuel: All of the World Event bosses can qualify in some way.
    • Omega 09 and Alpha 06. Imagine if InGen made a T. rex with the regenerative abilities and look of Doomsday.
    • Valkyrie 77 and Phoenix 44 as well. It doesn't help that they rivals the larger theropods and herbivores in size as well, and possess the same abilities as Omega 09 and Alpha 06.
    • Salamander 16. Even the largest crocodiles are small fry to this beast.
    • Don't forget Juggernaut 32 and Vulcan 19. Despite being a herbivore, they are still as powerful, aggressive and frightening as the other World Event arena bosses.
    • The Death Dodo can be either this or Nightmare Retardant.
    • Colossus 04. Not even the water is safe anymore...
    • Maelstrom 08. Sure, it's just a Megaloceros, a giant deer, however like all the other bosses it's as big as the sauropods, has Glowing Eyesof Doom and a hideously mutated purple body pulsing with electricity. Not only is it immortal, but it also comes back more powerful everytime you "kill" it. Oh, and there are skeletons visible in the background of its arena...
    • Kraken 18, which lives up to its namesake.
    • Ouroboros 66 is this for everyone who has a fear of snakes.
    • Akupara 81 despite being an Archelon turtle is also terrifying.
    • Behemoth 93 being a huge Elasmotherium takes Rhino Rhampage and dials it up to eleven.
    • The feeding animation of Indoraptor indicates it's so smart it can be taught to pull a lever to get its food. Along with how scary it was in the movie, it's frightening to think of that thing just waiting to escape...
  • Scrappy Mechanic: Sometimes your evolutions will fail, so you will have to pay additional DNA and Bucks to try them again.
  • Tear Jerker: Once again, losing any of the battles and watching your defeated animal lie wounded on the floor. Complete with depressing music.
