YMMV / Julie and Jack

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The synthy musical interlude between the museum and the couple's romantic trip. It sure beats the rest of the film.
  • Colbert Bump: Was largely unknown until Birdemic become infamous and RiffTrax got ahold of it.
  • Designated Hero:
    • Julie. She hides the fact that she's dead from Jack and then when he comes to grips with it, she tells him her program is failing and she'll be deleted, leaving him heartbroken.
    • Jack spends most of the movie stalking Julie both online and offline by contacting her former universities and workplaces to ask for her contact info. He persists even when she makes it very clear that she doesn't want to be found, refusing to accept the break-up, and ramps it up by visiting her friends and family at their own homes.
  • Fridge Logic: If Julie didn't want anyone to know the truth about her, why did she join a dating website?
  • Retroactive Recognition: Damien "Just Hangin' Out" Carter appears as Father Love.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • The final scene where Julie encourages Jack to forget about her and to live his life. Even on the RiffTrax commentary, Kevin Murphy non-sarcastically exclaims, "This is so sad!"
    • The scene with Julie on her deathbed with her mother at her side. It features some of the most emotion the film has to offer.
  • Took the Bad Film Seriously: Tippi Hedren turns in a rather moving performance as Julie's mother. No surprise considering she's one of the only noteworthy actors in the movie.
