• Alternate Character Interpretation: Was Jim Jones a good man who went mad with power, or was he always a manipulative psychopath who gained too much power for comfort?
• Diagnosed by the Audience: To say Jim Jones wasn't right in the head is putting it mildly. His anti-social and manipulate tendencies are off the chart, and he has no problem wanting to kill his followers, so they'll follow him in death.
• Nightmare Fuel:
  • The death tape, especially the screaming babies and children.
  • The entire history and topic of Jonestown is definitely this.
• Tear Jerker:
  • Watching Temple survivors describe seeing their loved ones die. Also watching captions listing just how many family members they lost.
  • Jones berating an old man who wants to go home to his family for Christmas.
    Jones: Do you want to go home?
    Jonestown Resident: [meekly] No...
    Jones: Well then, be seated and shut your mouth and don't be in my face anymore.
