- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Aside from killing off Goose and bringing The Angel to Frank, the crazed soldier subplot doesn't go anywhere.
- Critical Dissonance: If you look at it as a separate work rather than an adaptation of Angel's Egg, the film is quite good for a B-movie.
- Cult Classic: Enough to where the film has received a HD remaster and a Blu-Ray release.
- Esoteric Happy Ending: Earth's atmosphere is purified! Frank and Sarah can live on the surface! But it's still a post-apocalyptic wasteland...though it's hinted that the Angel's sacrifice will help speed along its recovery, at least.
- Tear Jerker:
- Frank playing the Carnvalito Tango for Sarah, which is intercut with visions of the Angel and what seems to be Sarah reminiscing on happier times.
- Johnathan smashing open the first egg; it's to make a point to the Angel about neglecting her duties by sleeping and about second chances, but it's still a gut-punch. His hesitation and pained expression make it clear that he'd rather not do it.
