Those up to speed on their Bermuda Triangle lore would know that Flight 19 was a group of US Navy planes that disappeared in the Triangle in 1945.

* SalvagedStory: The film's premise heavily expands on the franchise's "Zing" concept, going out of its way to disprove the previously established notion that falling in love can only happen once-in-lifetime. Dracula's new romance with Erika isn't shown to devalue the love he still feels for Martha, and it allows him to find happiness again and finally achieve closure from his wife's death.

If it's In Universe, then it doesn't go on YMMV. It's probably not even an example anyway.

* ItsTheSameNowItSucks:
** It sticks to mostly the same formula as its two predecessors, though whether or not this does it favors seems to be a point of contention.
** Also applies InUniverse: Drac, at least initially, thinks the idea of a cruise ship is inherently pointless, telling Mavis (and, later on, Murray and Frank) that it's just "...a hotel on the water!"

Requires Word Of God confirmation

* AuthorsSavingThrow:
** Some viewers felt that the franchise's statement that a "zing" (falling in love) only occurs once in a lifetime could be interpreted as a limiting or even harmful message, with the widowed Dracula being unable to move on from Martha after her death. While Dracula's love for his late wife is still regarded as important, this film revolves around him learning to fall in love again, and he finally achieves closure from Martha's death.
** The first two films had Wanda apparently oblivious of Wayne's stress at having to look after their numerous children. This time around, it's shown that looking after countless werewolf cubs is wearing her out as well.
** Quasimodo and Bela, the main antagonists of the first and second film, respectively, were often criticized for being unmemorable, one-note obstacles, with many viewers feeling that the films would change very little without them. In this film, Abraham and especially Ericka Van Helsing are given significantly more screen-time and development, with more distinct personalities and crucial roles in the plot.

* MorePopularReplacement: The villains of the prior two movies, Quasimodo and Bela, tended to be singled out as among the weakest points of their films, largely due to having nothing to do with the plot and not being very interesting. Ericka and Abraham Van Helsing tend to be considered much stronger antagonists due to having more interesting characterizations and playing off of the protagonists better.

* BaseBreakingCharacter: Johnathan, once again. As before while some fans don't mind his existence or even think he's a great husband to Mavis, others find him to be a boring or annoying self insert character whose just there to take up space. It really didn't help that he was firmly a secondary character this time around, at least until the climax.
