• Alternative Character Interpretation: How much you actually believe Robotnik depends on the viewer.
  • One of the biggest examples is how he treats the animals he turns into Badniks. Is he really being kinder with the method than his father, or is he just trying to justify what he's doing and in denial about being no different from his father?
  • The ending suggests a third possibility: that his Robotnikland venture started out humane and noble, but he underwent Sanity Slippage after the events of the first game.
• Moral Event Horizon: Metal Sonic crosses it through his murder and absorption of the defenseless Chao in the garden.
• Nightmare Fuel:
  • The initial reveal of just why Harold's car is having engine trouble after suddenly taking Ivo for a ride to an amusement park; He tried to recreate Ivo's science project on a grander scale using the pet dog that Gerald bought for Ivo. The strain from running the car for so long and so fast essentially drowned Eggy in his own blood as it was bursting from his veins. The look on his face as he tries to justify it and shift he blame on this own son is chilling on its own.
  • Metal Sonic's drive to fulfill his purpose grows far out of control as his life continues, with his experience with the Chaos Rings warping his perception of it to a hunger to devour his opponents. After failing multiple times, being shelved and made to watch over and over as his creator makes the same mistakes, he becomes enraged by it all and eventually escapes and makes his way to a Chao Garden— the same one where you took care of your Chao back in Sonic Adventure 2. Having read about and envying their adaptive ability, he proceeds to murder them all to gain their adaptive powers and sate his hunger.
    Metal Sonic: One by one. "Down the hatch", as they say. This garden was their sanctuary and prison. They've nowhere to flee. I ate. And ate. And ATE.
