YMMV / Heroes Never Die It's Hero Time

  • Fridge Brilliance:
    • Here, Izuku started out with nine aliens and in canon, Izuku is the ninth holder of One For All. You could say that he is Izuku 9.
      • Which only makes sense that the Negative 10 would be the Negative 9.
    • While diamonds are unable to decay, making them immune to Shigaraki's attacks, that might not be the only reason for Diamondhead's survival. If canon lore of Ben 10 remains intact, most likely Sugilite is counteracting Shigaraki's quirk.
    • Heatblast surviving Todoroki's fire attacks makes sense since Heatblast's species actually lives in an actual sun and would have a natural ability to thrive under the intense heat. Compared to a sun, Todoroki's attacks are like the equivalent of a squirt gun spraying on him.
    • The Razor Crest is a ship owned by Mando and Grogu, a father and son. Guess who is the father and who is the son?
  • Fridge Horror:
    • The Plumbers keeping All Might Locked Out of the Loop about aliens is justified. If he learns about it, All Might will try to protect the universe and fight against the villains that threaten it; The same Ben 10 villains that include the genocidal alien Nazis (Highbreed), The Empire (Incurseans) that can blow up planets with a press of a button, ammoral weapon builders (Techadon), races of Blood Knights (Appoplexians and Tetramands), Evil Matriarch (Ma Vreedle) and so on and so on. All Might's strength won't scare them, they'll retaliate and stamp him and Earth out.
    • Due to how close Hisashi Midoriya and Endeavour were, it's obvious that the former was the closest Endeavour had to a Morality Pet. And Hisashi's absence might had lead the Pro Hero to become the abusive parent he is to his children.
    • Although the I-Island arc ends the same way in canon, David Shield's fate is far worse here as not only he unwittingly helped criminals, both human and alien, he also nearly exposed the existence of aliens to the world. And given that these Plumbers are lot more brutal when it comes to keeping The Masquerade, David will most likely be transported off-world forcing to leave his daughter behind.
  • Growing the Beard: The consensus on Archive of Our Own when discussing this fic is that the story's first chapter is the roughest, being fairly laden with the The Stations of the Canon. It is after the first chapter and the rest of the story begins that The Stations of the Canon are no longer as omnipresent (if still present) and the story's more distinct and interesting ideas are present for the reader to enjoy. That being said, the fic's growing All Might bashing has also led to a general souring of opinions of the fic on the same site.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Granted the author stated that they had several ideas to get around this but the for-want-of-a-nail scenario of Ochaco getting One for All becomes this when in Chapter 304 of the manga, it's revealed that One for All kills those who possess a quirk.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Like the cartoon series the fic is based on, readers are here only to see the Omnitrix Aliens and how Midoriya uses them to his advantage.
  • Moral Event Horizon: If siccing the Sludge Villain upon Bakugou and intentionally having a train full of people to be killed wasn't the final straw, Henzu's willing cooperation with the League of Villains' plan to attack the USJ most certainly does it.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • Vilgax in this fic retains the dread and power he displayed in the Ben 10 Classic series. However, we get a hint that he's actually on par with All Might and All For One. When Vilgax and the League of Villains met, there's an off-screen battle between Vilgax and All For One. By the time it's over, neither All For One nor Vilgax suffer any kind of damage. It's give credence why Nezu and Gran Torino didn't want All Might to learn about aliens and join them BECAUSE there are forces out there just as strong or WAY stronger than him. And his entrance in Chapter 78.
    • Izuku's Unstoppable Rage is both amazing and horrifying at the same time. Using only just Heatblast, he burned an entire fake city, dominating the teachers and nearly killing All Might. Granted the last part is due to All Might holding back but that doesn't change how dangerous Heatblast's attacks are.. Even worse is that Heatblast has hurt All Might to the point he's only able to do hero work for one hour rather than his usual three hours.
    • Ghostfreak, per usual. During the Training Camp, while transformed at the alien ghost, is clear that Izuku is losing control of his body, and fast, while taunting his classmates, even posessing Kendo during their training to mess up with the students. After being exposed to sunlight, Ghostfreak completely takes over Izuku's body and tries to hurt his classmates and the students, only failing because of Kaminari's attack and the Omnitrix powering down at the last minute.
  • Unexpected Character: With the fic being primarily a crossover between My Hero Academia and Ben 10, with cameos from other series, the inclusion of certain characters come off as a surprise.
  • Wangst: One criticism of the fic held by readers on sites like Spacebattles is that the fic's Izuku tends to over mope and complain about the various problems in his life, describing him as whiny. His continual issues with All Might in particular are seen as needlessly overdone and annoying and hard to sympathize with, especially when after Hizashi returns and Izuku's issues with All Might, and others, are ramped up a few notches.
