• Base-Breaking Character: Aika gets her fair share of scorn for being a typical flat-chested, violent Tsundere. However, many view her as a breath of fresh air for at least directing said violence at the genuinely perverted Twoearle instead of dishing out Unprovoked Pervert Payback toward her love interest. Her aggression has also earned her scorn in-universe.
• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: In Episode 1, Aika attempts to push Twoearle away from Souji, only to have her hand repelled by a forcefield, with Twoearle smugly boasting that Aika can't put a finger on her. This never happens in the novels, nor does it ever come up again despite the many, many beatdowns Twoearle suffers.
• Quirky Work: It's a series about aliens attacking people for their twintails, and the main character himself having a huge fetish for twintails and gaining the ability to transform into a twintailed girl in order to fight those aliens. It definitely wouldn't make much sense to most people outside of Otaku circles.
• So Bad, It's Good: If it wasn't for its utter ridiculousness, the twintail fetish, and the fact that the male protagonist can turn himself into a flat-chested twintailed girl, then the series would have been less enjoyable. Western fandom considered this series to be the "best bad anime" of Fall 2014 anime season. The campy premise certainly helped, as well as the fact that it doesn't take itself seriously at all.
• Unfortunate Character Design: Tail Red's chest has two white dots on the black area that looks like that's her nipples popping out of her clothes, but it's a bit too high to be the case.
