  • Americans Hate Tingle: Glam rock bands had a tough time breaking into the American market, which found the way the bands looked much too effeminate for their tastes. Audiences across the pond preferred macho British hard rock acts like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff:
    • On the other hand, it did pretty well in Japan, especially David Bowie and Queen. It helped that glam acts were influenced by kabuki and paved the way for the Visual Kei scene there.

    • The few American glam acts (New York Dolls, Sparks, Suzi Quatro and solo Lou Reed) were most successful in the U.K.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Marc Bolan made several references to cars despite the fact he never learned to drive for fear he'd die in a car crash, which, sadly, he did, such as the lines "You got a hubcap/Diamond Star Halo" from "Bang A Gong" and "Easy as picking foxes from a tree" from "Solid Gold Easy Action",the license plate of the car he was in was "FOX 661L" it crashed into a tree and had to be removed.
  • Hookers and Blow: Inspiration to many artists in the Glam Rock scene. Cocaine was a major influence, almost a muse, for their creativity.
