- Alternate Character Interpretation: Was Lezarno really an inept magician, or was the whole thing an act?
- Awesome Music: The whole soundtrack. The cast can really sing! As an added bonus, the musical song score was written by Stephen Schwartz, the person responsible for such hits as "Defying Gravity," "Corner of the Sky," "When You Believe," and "Colors of the Wind"note !
- Ensemble Dark Horse: Brent Spiner's Stromboli for serving up a glorious helping of Ham and Cheese.
- Funny Moments:
- After the Blue Fairy turns Pinocchio into a real boy:Stromboli: A real boy! Who needs a real boy? Nobody will pay to see a real boy. You can't do this to me!Blue Fairy: Of course I can. I am the Blue Fairy.
- Cue Blue Fairy kicking Stromboli's ass with her wand.
- After the Blue Fairy turns Pinocchio into a real boy:
- Ham and Cheese: Again, Brent Spiner's over-the-top performance is one of the film's few bright spots.
- Heartwarming Moments: "Since I Gave My Heart Away". The Sonya Isaacs version doesn't disappoint either.
- Older Than They Think: The 1972 Italian TV miniseries directed by Luigi Comencini already gave more Adaptation Expansion to Geppetto (played by Nino Manfredi) and added new scenes that show his point of view while Pinocchio is away.
- One-Scene Wonder: Wayne Brady as Lezarno the Magician; René Auberjonois as Professor Buonrigazzo; Usher as the Ringleader.
- So Okay, It's Average: Drew Carey's infamous role as the titular character is balanced out by Brent Spiner's spectacular performance as Stromboli, and the rest of the film doesn't have much else to offer than a few One Scene Wonders and — as pointed out by Musical Hell — some wasted ideas that aren't expanded upon.
- Tear Jerker:
- Near the end, when Stromboli attempts to take Pinocchio away, most of the song Since I Gave My Heart Away.
- In the same scene, when Geppetto learns that the Blue Fairy can't help him any longer, he makes another wish—he wants her to transform him into "wood, or stone, or clay," because he can't bear the thought of losing his son. Yes—Geppetto is wishing for death.
