- Critical Research Failure: Many references and "facts" over the years, since a lot of the commentary is done off the top of the cast's head. They've become increasingly good at looking things up on the internet, but even then some things are just wrong. Sometimes Played for Laughs.
- One Running Gag is the player's ability to overlook the most obvious signs pointing toward what to do next in a game. This usually happens because they were riffing with the rest of the cast or didn't care in the first place.
- An infamous meta example occurred during their episode for Super Mario 64. Purported to be the 100th episode, and thus the reason why they were playing such a classic game. It was actually episode 91.
