  • Funny Moments:
    • The sheer apathy of the truck drivers when Hai Phuong stows away on their truck perfectly encapsulates a "well, no skin off my back" attitude and their casual reaction is a wonderfully low-key bit of humor.
    • Hai Phuong's breakout from the hospital, aided by the nurse who loves American movies. From the fake hostage ploy, to the nurse's Bad "Bad Acting", to the moment when she genuinely does try to escape, it's a masterfully comedic scene.
  • Magnificent Bitch: Hai Phuong, after leaving her family behind to become a gangster, would retire from her life of crime to raise her daughter Mai. Becoming a debt collector in a small village who uses excessive force to acquire money from people, Hai soon tracks down Mai to Saigon after she’s kidnapped by a bunch of thugs. Uncovering a child organ harvesting operation by sneaking into a police department and stealing some missing children files, Hai is able to go toe-to-toe with anybody who stands in her way, fighting through numerous crooks, and tracking down crime boss Thang Soi for a final showdown after fending off everything thrown at her. Getting sent to the hospital after rescuing Mai and the rest of the children, Hai is still able to make amends with her brother and promise Mai she’ll teach her how to defend herself.
  • Narm: The film ends with Hai Phuong promising to teach Mai martial arts. Hai Phuong begins telling Mai some of the lessons that she learned during her own training while they're resting in a hospital bed. So far, a fairly touching moment between mother and daughter. It only gets laughable when she snaps her head to the camera in order to deliver the final line of the film in a moment so out of place and jarring that it's hilarious.
  • One-Scene Wonder: The nurse who aids Hai Phuong's escape has only one scene, but it's a doozy. Not only is it the funniest scene in the film, she also manages to show herself as the single most compassionate character to Hai Phuong in the movie in the process, and her plan, while silly, is entirely successful.

Furie' prequel:

  • Complete Monster:
    • "Mad Dog" Hai Cho Dien is the leader of the Big Four that reigns over the Vietnamese underworld. Once the protégé of the previous boss Hoang, Hai betrayed and murdered him along with his son. Engaging in every dirty deed imaginable, Hai distributes drugs, commits murder on the regular, and has women trafficked throughout the city to be raped and sold to horrible brothels where they are enslaved and forced to work until death, even girls as young as their teens. Hai is also a rapist who frequently takes advantage of many of the girls with his one love in life being money and nothing else.
    • "Scarface" Teo Mat Seo is the head of "Mad Dog" Hai's sex trafficking ring. Managing some of the largest brothels in Vietnam, Teo has thousands of underaged girls sold and prostituted to abusive men, with Teo having the girls raped to "sample" them. Teo even "samples" some of the girls himself, with one of his latest girls killing herself afterwards.
  • Magnificent Bitch: Jacqueline, aka "Lin", is a seemingly heroic woman who takes in heroine Bi alongside former prostitute Thanh and the happy-go-lucky Hong. Training them for the sake of justice, Jacqueline directs them at the wicked "Mad Dog" Hai and his Big Four lieutenants who rule the city with thousands of innocent women trafficked as sex slaves. What Lin does not tell them is she is the widow of Hoang, the boss Hai murdered to seize control. Enraged by her husband and son's deaths, Jacqueline manipulates her proteges to eliminate the Big Four while taking advantage of Hong's lover Long to sway him to her side and trap Hai. Jacqueline reveals she intends on ruling the mob herself, killing Thanh when she refuses an order to kill Bi, before engaging Bi in a fight as well. Accepting her loss with grace, Lin passes with only bemusement at wondering what Bi will do without her.
