  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • April mocks Wren for her Ruth Bader Ginsberg costume, not knowing who Ruth Bader Ginsberg is and saying that her costume choice is nerdy and obscure. In the late 2010s, RBG Halloween costumes were gaining popularity and flying off shelves.
    • Peng dresses up as Aaron Burr, who he notes is "the guy who shot Alexander Hamilton" and "never threw away his shot." In 2015, the Broadway musical Hamilton featured Aaron Burr in a major role and had the song "My Shot" featuring the Tempting Fate line "I am not throwing away my shot!"
  • Retroactive Recognition: The movie includes a pre-Silicon Valley Thomas Middleditch and a pre-Supernatural Osric Chau in the cast.
  • Uncertain Audience: It's a Nickelodeon movie that plays just like that network's kid coms (even starring one of their teen idols), but loaded with crude, PG-13-rated humor and cursing particularly not appropriate for the network's target audience, making it too risqué for kids and too childish for everyone else. This is what likely led it to be a Box Office Bomb ($11 million worldwide on a $14m budget).
