YMMV / Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons

  • Covered Up:
    • The Tremeloes' version of "Silence Is Golden" is considerably better known, as is the Walker Brothers' version of "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore". The Spinners' version of "Working My Way Back To You" can be argued either way.
    • The versions of "Beggin'" by Madcon and especially MÃ¥neskin are better known among Gen-Zers, the latter thanks to its popularity on TikTok in 2021.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: "The Night", released in 1972, bombed in the US (which Valli later blamed on lousy promotion by Motown, their label at the time), but became a Top 10 hit in the UK in 1975, after Northern Soul DJs revived it.
  • Older Than They Think: Released in 1969, Genuine Imitation Life Gazette is the Ur-Example of an album with its artwork done up as a fictional newspaper (including song lyrics printed as stories), predating the more famous covers of Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick, John Lennon's Some Time in New York City, and even Guns N' Roses' G N'R Lies.
  • Signature Song: "December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)", which is an interesting variation: It was released in 1975, well after their heyday (but still a #1 hit), but is about the era that was their heyday.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song: "Save It For Me" very obviously borrows elements of "Telstar" by The Tornados (specifically the chugging rhythm and spacey keyboards).
