  • Harsher in Hindsight: Michael takes four space shuttles with it, as converted space fighters, to help it fight the fithp. One of them is the Challenger ... which gets blown up.
    • The idea of dropping an asteroid into the Indian Ocean, after we saw what sort of thing that would look like after the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami.
  • Take That!: John Fox, the resident Green/Luddite strawman, breaks down after discovering that the fithp have dropped an asteroid in the Indian Ocean. His conclusion; environmentalism/Luddism is treason against the human race, as it has permitted aliens to cause a Class 1 going on Class 2 apocalypse.

I tried to stop the Space Shuttle, damn me for a fool. They've smashed every environment on Earth! Damn you, pour fire on the Earth, pile bodies in pyramids! We can live anywhere! We'll hide in the deserts and mountain peaks and the Arctic ice cap, and one day we'll come forth to kill you all!
    • He later kills a reporter friend rather than let him reveal that the government is building an Orion Drive warship. By drowning him in a toilet.
