YMMV / Floricienta

Go To

  • Base-Breaking Character: Count Maximo is either loved for his personality post-Character Development and promotion to the main cast in Season 2 (and for replacing Federico as Flor's One True Love), or hated for those exact reasons.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: As well as being successful in other Latinamerican countries, the show was very popular in Italy and Israel.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • It premiered the same year as that other Cinderella story...which had even cast an Argentinian actress as the villain! One wonders if Julie Gonzalo regrets not being in her home country's version of the story?
    • Flor's "glass slippers" were her converse sneakers, which were nearly the show's mascots. A Cinderella Story also heavily used pink converses in advertising, although the movie proper used a cell phone to replace the glass slipper as the story's MacGuffin.
    • The show was also released the same year as Argentina's remake of The Nanny, which also changed the heroine name to be "Flor," though, as with this show, it was The Danza.
  • Informed Wrongness: Florencia sneaks into the house a little kid who was living on the streets. Federico finds it out the next day (yes, she stayed during the night) and he's outraged by it, to the point of firing Florencia. Flor and the other kids treat him like a monster for doing this, but all the reasons he gave (it's his house, they don't know this girl and whether she can be trusted, he has no relation to this girl and no obligations towards her, and that Florencia made a huge overconfident move by moving her without asking) are perfectly reasonable. And there's an extra one that was not mentioned: if this girl truly moves home, Federico would become his legal guardian, with all the related legal responsibilities, and that must be his choice to make.
  • Like You Would Really Do It:
    • A Cinderella story that kills off and replaces its Prince Charming halfway through? Like that would really....
    • The Mexican version played with this. The "Prince" character does indeed die in an accident but he'll get a second chance if "Cinderella" kisses him in time. Don't worry, he gets it.
  • One True Pairing: Flor and Federico for many fans.
  • The Scrappy: Dominique. Just looking through Youtube comments is enough to know how everyone hated her.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: The decision to kill off Federico was universally hated. No wonder it was removed in some remakes.
