YMMV / Figment (Disney Kingdoms)

Go To

  • Adorkable:
    • Of course, there's The Dreamfinder himself, aka Blarion Mercurial, who is shown to be an incredibly creative, eccentric and endearing, but socially awkward scientist in the comic.
    • Capri is an adorably spunky dork who is just as creative and eccentric as the Dreamfinder. Fitting considering she's his great-great-great grandniece.
  • Cant Unhear It: It's easy to picture hearing Chuck McCann's or Ron Schneider's voice when reading Dreamfinder's lines and Billy Barty's voice when reading Figment's lines in both Figment and Figment 2 if one is familiar with the original version of Journey Into Imagination. Depending on personal preference and/or if one is only familiar with Journey Into Imagination With Figment, one could also easily imagine hearing David Goelz as Figment when reading that character's lines in either series.
  • Character Rerailment: While Figment retains some of his qualities from the third incarnation of the ride, he is depicted to be much closer to the naive, upbeat and childlike purple dragon from the ride's first incarnation, as opposed to the mischievous and troublesome Karmic Trickster the third incarnation depicted him as.
  • Fanfic Fuel: Will Dreamfinder and Figment find the lost geodesic sphere? What other adventures will they have? Since a third Figment series answering the former question won't be seeing the light of day, it makes sense for fans to answer it themselves.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Many Disney Park fans are immediately drawn to the comic just for the mere fact that it features the Dreamfinder in a prominent leading role again, after being absent from the ride since 1998.
  • MST3K Mantra: How does Blair's machine work? Why does it open portals to other universes? As Figment puts it: "Mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter!"
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • During the scene in Figment in which Chimera is reminded of her fears, she curls up and starts sobbing. Since they are "barked" to her and not spoken in English in addition to no visual clues being present, the reader is left with the question: what exactly is she afraid of?
    • The Doubtfinder in Figment 2 as it is a personification of doubt; once it completely takes over the Academy Scientifica Lucidus, all Figment can do is flee the horde of possessed students and staff and seek outside help. The Doubtfinder even mentions this YMMV item by name when it first shows up.
  • Unexpected Character: Amongst the Disney Kingdoms line as a whole, while a comic dedicated to Figment was not entirely surprising (given his popularity), nobody had expected Disney and Marvel to make that comic dedicated to exploring The Dreamfinder, given that the Dreamfinder has been written out and replaced by Dr. Nigel Channing in later incarnations of the ride after the original closed down in 1998.
