YMMV / Falling in Reverse

Go To

  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Jacky Vincent. Very early on in his time in the band, he showed that he was a very technically competent guitarist. He also revealed in interviews that he had a proper music education, having gone to an as-yet unknown music school in England before he moved to America. One of the only positive things people will often say about Falling In Reverse is about how good Jacky is as a guitarist, and he was even considered to be one of the best in the emo/scene crowd at the time. When he left, a sizeable portion of the fanbase left with him.
  • Fanon Discontinuity: Fashionably Late is reviled by fans due to its incorporation of hip-hop and EDM influences.
  • Fandom Rivalry: With a member as controversial as Ronnie Radke and a fanbase that's fairly happy to defend him, you should expect to see a lot of this.
    • With Escape the Fate. Given how Falling In Reverse started, it's not surprising.
    • With fans of ex-guitarist Jacky Vincent, due to them thinking his post-Falling In Reverse output is much better.
    • With Spiritbox, due to the band pulling off the Popular Monster Tour in 2023 over Ronnie's online behavior.
    • With fans of Andy Cizek, due to Ronnie deliberately targeting him and his band Makari in a Twitter rant in 2023.
    • With fans of pro wrestling in general, due to Ronnie's relationship with Saraya (formerly known as Paige in WWE) and the time he tried to feud with Saraya's former boss Triple H. Saraya's entrance music in AEW being "Zombified" actually caused some fan backlash when she first showed up in the promotion.
  • Growing the Beard: Coming Home.
  • Memetic Mutation: "My life is like a video game..."Explanation
  • More Popular Spin Off: Of Escape The Fate. Even with the huge amount of controversy attached to them through Ronnie Radke, they still play bigger shows and bigger tours than Escape The Fate does these days.
    • Jacky Vincent's post-Falling In Reverse projects are this to the metal community as a whole. While they aren't anywhere near as commercially successful as Falling In Reverse, they don't have the huge amounts of controversy attached to them as Jacky is a relatively drama-free person.
    • Ryan Seaman became the drummer of I Don't Know How But They Found Me after leaving Falling In Reverse. They're definitely a much more popular band than Falling In Reverse now.
  • Never Live It Down:
    • It's very hard to forget the videos of Ronnie Radke throwing fans out of concerts simply for wearing I See Stars shirts after throwing them off the tour, spitting on female fans and calling them misogynistic slurs or tossing microphone stands into the crowd, which resulted in concertgoers requiring stitches and resulting in at least one venue banning all rock acts from performing there again.
    • In 2014, Ronnie Radke apparently thought it was a good idea to use a picture from the September 11 attacks as the punchline for a juvenile sex joke on Instagram on Memorial Day. Needless to say, the backlash was swift.
    • Ronnie once tried to start a feud with Triple H over comments he'd made about his partner Saraya in a shoot interview. Pro wrestling fans haven't forgotten about it, and Ronnie Radke is definitely not welcome around anything to do with wrestling anymore.
    • Ronnie's battery charge. It always comes back to haunt him and sometimes it's had negative effects on his career. Perhaps the most infamous case of this was in 2023, where its resurfacing led to Ronnie going on a massive rant on Twitter and attacking fans and fellow musicians alike. It led to widespread condemnation of his behavior and Spiritbox pulling out of the 6 shows they were supposed to do on the Popular Monster Tour.
    • Ronnie feuding with music critics like Anthony Fantano and Brad Taste in Music. From arguing with them on Twitter, to putting out MULTIPLE copyright strikes on Brad's negative review of "Fashionably Late".
    • Ronnie making tons of sexist and transphobic comments on social media and proudly calling himself a transphobe to the point he was banned from TikTok.
  • Overshadowed by Controversy: If you ever hear anyone talk about Falling In Reverse, you're more likely to hear about the various controversies Ronnie's been involved in rather than anything to do with their music. Some people have even argued that Ronnie being controversial is basically the only reason why anyone knows about the band at all.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!:
    • Many fans reacted this way to the song "Alone," as it was a drastic transition from Post-Hardcore to what can loosely be called Crunkcore.
    • A lot of people haven't listened to or even cared about the band since Jacky Vincent left.
  • Win Back the Crowd: Just Like You managed to bring back fans who were turned off by the band's turn to crunkcore on Fashionably Late.
