• He Really Can Act: the gap between Akshay Kumar's stoic, nuanced performance in this and the abrasive "comedy" roles he was mostly taking at the time can be startling, and probably contributed to the film's failure at the box office.
• Iron Woobie: Jai. In addition to the Power-Strain Blackout from his psychic abilities, the business about his father's death puts his relationship with his mother and girlfriend under a lot of strain, and things kind of go downhill from there.
• Jerkass Woobie: once his backstory is revealed, the villain is apparently supposed to be seen this way.
