YMMV / Eddie and the Cruisers

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Was Eddie Wilson really a brilliant visionary rocker who was unfairly crushed by a cruel, insensitive music industry, or a pompous jerk who shot himself in the foot and screwed over his band with his Small Name, Big Ego antics? Maybe a little bit of both?
  • Tear Jerker: "HERE'S TO NOTHIN' FELLAS!"
    • After Wendell dies, Eddie is scheduled to perform. The band gets a few seconds into "Tender Years," but Eddie can't bring himself to sing. He stumbles out an apology to the audience and walks out. Joann looks to Frank and nods, and Frank starts playing "Tender Years" solo on the piano, while Joann sings the song, barely keeping from breaking down.
  • Vindicated by Cable: A failure at the box office, the film was saved from obscurity by its soundtrack and cable broadcasts.
