YMMV / Earth vs. the Flying Saucers

• Harsher in Hindsight: The imagery of a flying craft ramming into a famous monument and causing it to collapse may have sounded like something that could never happen, but 45 years later that became reality. It gets even worse when you remember that United Airlines Flight 93 was headed toward a target located in Washington D.C.
• Special Effect Failure: It's definitely the case when the characters run endlessly against a backprojected burning forest.
• Tear Jerker: After some of their own are killed by the Earthlings, in self-defense. The aliens murder the still mind-controlled (and helpless) General Hanley and the policeman with him. Killing the poor men by throwing them out of one of their ships from a high altitude. Poor Carol is even Forced to Watch as it happens.
