YMMV / DuckTales (2017) S3 E3 "Double-O-Duck in You Only Crash Twice!"

  • Alternative Character Interpretation:
    • While gifted with greater intelligence Launchpad expresses a rather uncharacteristic desire to actually land a plane. Did this arise from him realizing that crashing is actually not an ideal way to end flights and wants to do it properly because he has the mental clarity to do so now or is it something he's always wished to do and merely didn't have the mental acumen or piloting skill to pull off?.
    • Relating to the above, if Launchpad does legitimately want to land a plane properly then are his constant crashes an actual effort to try and get it right that are hindered by his general mentality or has he seen fit to master crashing to compensate for his inability to land effectively?
  • Awesome Music:
    • The spy song that plays twice in the episode perfectly apes the various James Bond themes from over the years. As a bonus, Ben Schwartz gets to show off his amazing vocals, perfect for the spotlight-loving member of the Duck family.
    • The Rescue Rangers' theme song makes its triumphant return during their Big Damn Heroes moment.
  • Fanfic Fuel:
    • Who knows what kind of trouble the Rescue Rangers (or at least Chip and Dale) could stir up for Donald? Plus, did Gadget get her hands on the Intelli-ray to boost up the others or were they all given intelligence boosts by Black Heron before escaping?
      • Similarly the RR's adventures following their escape from F.O.W.L. in general.
    • The circumstances surrounding Black Heron finding and breaking Steelbeak out of prison
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Back in "Daytrip Of Doom!", Webby was sinking to the ball pit, believing it was a trap... little did she know it was a secret entrance to the F.O.W.L. HQ.
  • Memetic Mutation: When Black Heron said "I should've left you rotting in that prison cell in St. Canard", fans immediately fantasized Steelbeak countering with "But cha didn't!".
  • Moral Event Horizon: Steelbeak crosses it when he's a-OK shooting Duckburg with the intelligence ray that Launchpad warned he accidentally supercharged to the point that if fired the residents will be too dumb to remember how to breathe just so he can go along with the idea that doing so was his plan all along.
  • They Wasted Perfectly Good Characters: After getting so much hype about their appearance, the Rescue Rangers are reduced to being minor characters, and don't even have any speaking lines aside from triumphant cheering during their escape. None of the original cast members voice them, instead, they are all voiced by Jeff Bennett. Granted, this is somewhat understandable as Executive Meddling said that the Rangers couldn't appear and had to be effectively snuck into the episode, only getting caught when it was already too late.
