YMMV / DuckTales (2017) S3E12 "Let's Get Dangerous!"

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: When it comes to Director Bradford Buzzard's stance towards taking risk, is it due to severe tunnel vision, which Bulba calls him out for having, or is he a Dirty Coward so unwilling to face said risks or danger that he will do anything to prevent it from happening, and will just bug out when things go wrong, as evidenced by how badly he wanted out of the danger after being rescued? "The First Adventure!" seems to lean towards the latter interpretation, as he's practically a cowering mess throughout the whole ordeal of that episode. Evidently, he's not afraid to commit crime, but if it puts his life on the line, his cunning drops and he's unable to do virtually anything. Well, almost anything...
  • Complete Monster: Taurus Bulba, co-inventor of the reality-warping RamRod and one of the chief agents of F.O.W.L., is introduced as a brilliant, charismatic scientist and colleague of the mysteriously-vanished Professor Waddlemeyer. Bulba heavily implies that he himself tossed Waddlemeyer into another dimension for the latter's protest over the destructive effects of the RamRod, does the same to Scrooge when he clues into Bulba's plans, and betrays the head of F.O.W.L. to spearhead a more extravagant means of world domination. Bulba attempts to use the RamRod to utterly remake the world, even if it means totally ripping apart the old reality and putting a new one in its place.
  • Fanfic Fuel:
    • Since Launchpad is splitting time between Duckburg and St. Canard, there's gonna be a lot of tales that describe his adventures.
    • Every single work of fiction is actually inspired by a real alternate reality. Even with the ramrod destroyed, there could well be other ways to tap into them.
      • Related to this, with the existence of alternate realities confirmed, that means there's possibly a new version of Darkwing Duck's Negaverse out there. What would that look like?
    • Bonkers exists in this universe, so who knows what Fawn Deer, Grumbles Grizzly, Jitters A. Dog, Tanya Trunk and Fall-Apart Rabbit are like? What are Lucky and Miranda like?
    • The possibility of Jim Starling/Negaduck teaming up with Taurus Bulba, given that Taurus is presumably familiar with Darkwing Duck this time around and both want Darkwing's head on a platter. Considering that Negaduck wasn't seen in this episode — Word of God said it was deliberate as ND deserved better — this would be ripe for a Villain Team-Up.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Bradford's words to Scrooge that his "little adventure fantasy is coming to an end" take on a much more tearjerking manner when it's eventually revealed that the series was ending after this season.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Bonkers and Animaniacs premiered around the same time, and the former show was a frequent source of mockery from the latter. Now, only weeks before the revival of Animaniacs premiered, Bonkers cameos here, meaning he technically made a return to television before the Warner siblings could. One can only imagine how they would feel about that.
  • Shocking Moments:
    • Since the third season was announced, everyone knew that Taurus Bulba and Gosalyn were going to show up. What they probably weren't expecting was an hour-long special episode dedicated to DW, or that it involved the freakin' Fearsome Five (or at least Four).
    • Bushroot especially, since he didn't even have an appearance in the Show Within a Show version of Darkwing Duck (although he did make a cameo in "The Duck Knight Returns!").
    • Zan Owlson returns and has become mayor of St Canard.
    • Bonkers D. Bobcat cameos in this episode!
    • A version of Solego is shown to exist in the show's universe. Looks like an adaptation of The Legend of the Chaos God may not be that farfetched after all.
  • Unexpected Character:
    • While Liquidator, Quackerjack, and Megavolt had made a previous appearance on the Show Within a Show Darkwing Duck, Bushroot didn't and so it's a nice surprise to see him among the Fearsome Five Minus One members. Doubly so since his new appearance gives him a much creepier look.
    • We get three big surprise cameos for this episode;
  • The Woobie: Gosalyn. Her grandfather is thrown into another dimension by Taurus Bulba, and she herself is forced to destroy the only way of finding him in order to save reality. Even though Drake is taking care of her now, she doesn’t yet appear to be Happily Adopted like in the original series since there’s still a chance (however slim) that her grandfather’s still alive.
